NSPCC Learning has reviewed and updated its information and resources to help professionals working with children and young people who have displayed problematic or harmful sexual behaviour, including peer-on-peer sexual abuse. Topics covered include: how to recognise what sexual behaviours are harmful, how to manage incidents of problematic or harmful sexual behaviour and support children involved, and how to ensure safeguarding policies and procedures include information about problematic and harmful sexual behaviour.

Ofsted has updated its Inspecting safeguarding in early years, education and skills guidance for England to include a section on its review of sexual abuse in schools and colleges, and outlining expectations of providers in alignment with the Department for Education’s (DfE's) updated guidance on keeping children safe in education.

The Home Office is consulting on draft domestic abuse statutory guidance which will support the implementation of the definition of domestic abuse in England and Wales. Chapter 3 of the guidance looks at the impact on children and young people who are recognised as victims of domestic abuse for the first time. The guidance highlights different aspects of the experience of children and young people, so that this can be considered in seeking to meet their needs. It explains how the statutory definition of domestic abuse is to operate alongside other measures that address the safeguarding of children and young people. The consultation closes on 14 September 2021.
